Assisted Stretching with Eucalyptus & Camphor Aromatherapy

Release your body from stiffness, and muscle rigidness with Assisted Stretching. Radiant Massage Therapy incorporates the relaxation techniques of Thai massage & the intention of Sports Massage to create a custom experience tailored to each individual client. Having worked with Ultimate Fighting Championship, Professional Golf Association, and working with professional athletes, like World Champion boxers, World Champion Powerlifters, etc. Radiant Massage Therapy is knowledgeable of the needs of athletes and how to incorporate advanced techniques to release the body of tension.

  • Increase Range of Motion: Isolate supporting muscles and stretch around stiff joints to relieve tightness.
  • Promote Back Flexibility: Lack of stretching can make the cartilage between the vertebrae stiff and inflexible. This rigidity of the muscles can cause tearing in the cartilage and cause injury to the spine. Staying in prolonged stationary positions (such as sitting at a computer, standing for extended amounts of time, etc) without stretching can also cause muscle stiffness and back ache. Assisted stretching brings relief and mobility to the spine and helps to relieve pain.
  • Positively impact Mental Health: Studies show that stretching has a positive impact on mood, sleep and self esteem. Stretching releases dopamine, which is an important chemical messenger involved in reward, motivation, memory, attention and even regulating body movements.
  • Decrease Blood Sugar Levels: Holding a stretch for more than 30 seconds increases blood flow throughout the muscles. The improved blood flow transports glucose out of the blood and muscles and decreases overall blood sugar levels.
  • Decrease Blood Pressure: Stretching is a form of exercise and is known to be a key factor in a healthy lifestyle. Stretching increases blood circulation and promotes flexibility throughout the body, including arterial flexibility. Stretching promotes healthy heart function and lowered blood pressure by keeping our internal channels fluid and flexible.

“In 2011, the Journal of Physiotherapy published a research study by Nelson, Kokkonen, and Arnall showing that a program of passive static stretches could lower blood glucose by an average of 18 percent after 20 minutes and 26 percent after 40 minutes. These researchers concluded that static stretching is an additional viable activity that can acutely help regulate blood glucose. “

Originally native to Australia, Eucalyptus trees are now grown all over the world and known for their medicinal benefits.

Important to note: Eucalyptus can be used as an antiseptic. It must be diluted before being applied to the skin. With worries of the Coronavirus and a shortage of things like hand sanitizer, Eucalyptus may be used as a holistic approach to disinfect hands and surfaces.

Topically, Eucalyptus & Camphor can relieve muscle pain, joint pain and reduce inflammation.

When inhaled, Eucalyptus & Camphor can decrease muscle spasms that narrow airways, allowing for ease of breathing. They promote drainage from congested sinuses and are used as an expectorant to clear mucus. Eucalyptus and Camphor are main ingredients in Vicks VapoRub that is commonly used to address coughing and congestion due to allergies, colds and respiratory ailments.

Eucalyptus has been been proven to be a strong antioxidant. It helps clear your skin of free radicals and promotes healthy skin.

Gratitude: Pink Rose Foot Retreat enhanced with Geranium, Rose and Wild Orange

Show Gratitude. Be Grateful. Radiate Love.

February is the month of love. It’s sort of marketed as a reminder to acknowledge significant people, or a significant person in your life. The subtlety of gratitude is for you to reconnect with the things that you may take for granted. This is very personal and subjective, but for the purpose of massage… this means feet.  You could show gratitude towards your husband or your wife, or partner or friend but you could also show gratitude to the part of your body that takes you where you need to go. As you carry the weight of the world, your feet carry you. Step by step, they trudge forward as under appreciated after thoughts who see little care and rarely any love.I’m serious! Dating back to ancient Chinese medicine, the feet have historically been an important part of self care. The feet are regarded as access points to meridian pathways and are said to impact the whole functionality of the body. Energetically, the feet are respected as indicators of internal imbalances and illnesses that may be happening within the body.  In our culture, our feet don’t hold that high of a regard. Anyway, I am here to encourage you to show gratitude to your feet this month. Firstly, it feels amazing. Secondly, it’s really relaxing. Thirdly, your feet need the love after a winter spent inside closed toe shoes.

The Pink Rose Foot Retreat starts with hot lavender towels, then an invigorating exfoliation with our handmade, Pink Rose Himalayan Salt Scrub, more hot towels, a luscious application of Moroccan body butter and ends with a foot massage.  The goal is to slough away dry skin, ease away tension and soreness that is stored within the feet, and for you to enjoy a deep relaxation experience.

In acknowledgement of all things hearts and flowers, February’s aromatherapy is a blend of Geranium, Rose and Wild Orange. When inhaled, this sweet floral blend reduces anxiety and has a calming effect on the body. Topically, it decreases pain and inflammation. Geranium & Rose were historically used for their antimicrobial, antibacterial and anti-fungal properties to aid with skin conditions and promoting of skin health. Made from the peels of oranges, Wild Orange is fresh, citric and sweet. It is used to boost the immune system and has a positive, uplifting effect on mood.

Be Inspired: Cupping Therapy complimented by Juniper Berry & Cypress

Be Inspired! Be Your Best Self in 2020! January is the month of resolutions and resolve to do better for ourselves. What are your resolutions? What do you wish you would make time for, but haven’t? How can you incorporate small changes in your life to make a larger impact on your overall well being? What can you do to nurture your mind, body, and spirit?

After an abbreviated and hectic holiday season, taking the time to unwind and decompress is important. Letting go and leaving the stress behind makes it easier to take those steps in a positive and healthy direction. With that in mind, Radiant Massage Therapy is highlighting Cupping Therapy. Cupping Therapy is renown for its many benefits…

  • Relaxes muscles and fascial tissue
  • Stimulates blood flow
  • Promotes faster elimination of toxins
  • Sedates the nervous system to create a deep sense of relaxation
  • Relieves neck and back pain
  • Decreases anxiety and depression
  • Promotes restful sleep
  • Breaks up cellulite
  • Clears meridian pathways to promote free-flowing energy

What is Cupping Therapy? Cupping Therapy is an alternative to the traditional compression of Deep Tissue massage as it creates suction to decompress the body. Cupping creates suction to pull blood to the superficial surface of the skin and then releases it back into the bloodstream. The newly oxygenated blood then flows back into the area to promote healing. Cupping Therapy is known for the marks, which are not bruising, but glorified hickeys if you would. The color of the marks is determined by the amount of metabolic waste in that area. Cupping Therapy is not painful, but can feel intense as the body gets acclimated to the sensation of the cup. The benefits outweigh any discomfort as the increase of adrenaline can create a euphoric feeling.

Take a deep breathe of Juniper Berry & Cypress… Cool, Crisp, Calm, Collected. Feel inspired as this aromatic blend increases feelings of happiness, clarity, and relaxation. Juniper Berry is renown for its’ positive effect of the relaxation response in the brain and Cypress is a natural remedy in reducing anxiety. Topically, this blend is a natural healer as it works to repair and strengthen the skin, allowing the body to defend itself from impurities. This boosts the body’s immune system and aids against common winter illnesses. This blend also reduces muscle cramps and muscle pain when applied to achy areas

Detoxify

For the month of June, Radiant Massage Therapy has designed two exclusive body treatments… Detoxify: Infrared Body Wrap and Coconut Oil Scalp Massage. Each is paired with our Tea Tree and Grapefruit Essential Oil blend to maximize a full body Detox. Every detail is thought out and specifically chosen to be of the highest benefit for our clients.

Detoxify: Infrared Body Wrap with Kaolin Clay, Tea Tree & Grapefruit is a unique, full body treatment where you are completely indulged. A dry body exfoliation sloughs away dead skin cells and preps the skin to absorb a rich application of tea tree & grapefruit infused oil & kaolin clay. The body is then wrapped in an insulating sheet and swaddled between infrared heated blankets to increase the overall body temperature to induce a vigorous sweat. For 20-30 minutes, the body absorbs minerals that deeply nourish the skin, and expels unwanted water weight and toxins. While comfortably cocooned, a Coconut Oil Scalp Massage is performed to stimulate and moisturize the scalp while calming the nervous system and decompressing the whole body. After the wrap, warm lavender towels are used to cleanse the body and remove excess clay. The treatment ends with a caffeinated lotion that plumps, smooths and tightens target areas to reduce the visibility of cellulite. The body is left feeling soft, invigorated and free of muscular tension.
